Hey all, I thought sence i'm temporary not playing with ya'll I'd let you in on some tip's that helped me reach my goal of becoming a good player on Halo. For those who are looking to become better players, the road of becoming Legend is not that easy. It takes dedication, and smart's. If have neither of those i suggest not reading this . However i am talking to NCO so i don't think we have to worry about that with most cases.
Intro to Pro
I've been playing Halo Competitively for 5 year's, 4 of those year's you can say i played "blindly", I did not understand the true fact's of being a good player. I assumed it meant play till you become unstoppable with every weapon, But no, that's only 25% of what makes someone a good player. A lot of player's say "It take's time to become good". I can confidently say that's not entirely true. Becoming legend is not only gained by how long you dedicate yourself, but how well you understand the game and competition. In Halo knowledge is power, anyone who is Pro would agree. Yes it takes time to get good with weapons and learn your way around the various map's but if you are serious about getting good you'd dedicate yourself properly. I guarantee you will see a major incline in your skill within a couple week's.
1st Tip - Challenge yourself
Who you play with and against make's all the difference. Playing with or against someone who is better than you will challenge you to be better and force you to kick up that clutch more often, No good player doesn't try. I strongly urge everyone to play the MLG playlist and to avoid petty playlists like Action sack, Griffball, and Team Slayer. Petty playlist's do not challenge you and your skill will only get worse cause you will get lazy. MLG, Arena, and Team Sniper's can be challenging playlist's. When you play against/ with player's who are better than you you will learn from them and learn to correct your mistake's.
2nd Tip - Learn your Map's
This is something that take's time depending on if you can get someone who know's all the maps like the back of their hand to show you everything they know about it. What make's people unique is how well they can maneuver around the map. Understanding where every little jump and hiding spot is will give you the advantage to find and kill your enemy a lot quicker and swiftly( NOTE - you always want to take the highest ground on the map, it's easier to shoot down the its is to shoot up). Im more of a team player guy but in case anyone is interested in getting into 1v1's my advice to you is pick a map you like and learn everything about it. I suggest a map that is hardly played on. So when you go to do a 1v1 the only person whose know's everything about that map is you, giving you a huge advantage. Unfortunately if you want to get into Gamebattles and MLG, maps are pre-chosen for you. So that's why you need to learn every map.
3rd Tip - Learn your Spawn location's
Like my advice in the second tip find someone who is experienced, and play against them. Spawning is sequenced and varies upon where you got killed. Usually there are only three main area's someone will spawn, Far right of base, Objective, or Far left of base. So say you got killed on the far right side of you base, There is a likely chance you will spawn Far left, I always check the objective first tho. You do not want an enemy to spawn next to the side of you and give him that opening to shoot you. Never skip over looking at a area before you pass it up unless you have good cover to walk over to the Far left and look (FYI - If you have a sniper, keep your distance and look from afar, don't Rambo in hoping for a nice no scope). One way i learned how to spawn kill is i would predict where i would spawn after i died, eventually i got them down. I was able to predict if someone was about to spawn kill me also (TIP- if you know your gonna get sniped off your spawn a good way to avoid that is to crouch immediately after you spawn so you dodge the bullet). Another way is to simply go into forge and look at the spawn's.
4th Tip - Learn your Power weapon spawn locations
You always, ALWAYS want the power weapon's. Some people say its a bad idea to use the t2 combo (t2 combo is wielding rock's and a sniper) but that's bullshit. You hoard them power weapon's. You want every little advantage. A BK can beat a pro if the only thing he know's how to do is hoard power weapons (If you ever find yourself fighting the t2 combo try to nade their sheild's down, your not gonna get a 5 shot against rock's unless he's a terrible aim). So if you do not know the spawn time, fuking learn them, GO into forge and check or go to forums.majorleaguegaming.com/topic/212510-power-weapons-respawn-time-list/ ... Learning those time's is a necessity if you want to win every game. It's seem's nooby at first but id rather win a noob then loose a noob. Also, If anyone has one of them fancy Ipod's there's an App that let's you know when the power weapon's are gonna be up. I believe is $2.99 for the download but if you too lazy to learn them, your in luck.
5 Tip - Be a Smart player
I learned after a couple 1v1's that rushing with a pea shooter is NOT the way to go (jk, r u fuking kidding me i'm not that stupid lolz). Seriously, play smart, patiently and swiftly. If you have low shield's no one is gonna blame you for running like a b1tch. Run! stay alive ( a useful trick to avoided getting domed when you have low shields its to look down and run toward's cover) let them chase, it set's you up for a nice ninja anyway ( Good player's never chase.. its too dangerous against someone good, sometimes its acceptable to chase but that's for you to determine). However to be a smart player just use your head before you act. Have and idea of your strategy for the game before you start then make that idea come to life. As you begin to increase skill and see how people play. You will eventually learn how people think and how they will act. You will be able to predict where people will they will run, where they will hide, and what they are planning before they know. I believe Reverse Physiology has a lot to do with being a smart player in Halo. How i became good at evading death and/or juking people is if i got low on shields id pretend to run in a certain direction, that leaves the enemy with three choice's give up and take high ground, chase, or cut me off. Most of time they'd try to cut me off at a point instead of chasing me. So once they lost sight of me that would give me the chance to stop and walk back to where he broke my shield's. The last area he would expect to find me. I perfected that and the V2 ninja witch made me a unique opponent (there is a video of how to do the v2 ninja on my file share, its a laggy game but it shows you what i'm talking about). To be a smart player just get in their heads, and have good reasoning skill's.
Another thing i will talk about is you gaming equipment. The equipment you play with is a vital influence that partially reflect's your skill's at Halo. My advice to you good people is find a remote your comfortable with. For me it was the Xbox 360 Madcatz FPS PRO Wired Controller. I just didn't feel comfortable with the original Xbox 360 Microsoft brand remote's. I played way better when i was more comfortable. And if your really serious about getting good on Halo reach then i suggest you get a Turtle Beach. It makes you invulnerable to assassinations and you hear everything, like when and enemy is near, you can literally hear them walking. Sometimes you will hear a power weapons drop too.
If you guys have any question's just let me know and i will try to answer it to the best of my knowledge ... ... ;D
And guy's i know you might avoid playlist's like MLG because of your K/D but i realized a while ago that Id rather be a great player with a bad K/D then a noob with a good K/D. If you want to get good your going to have to die a couple time's, you will never learn if you do good all the time. It's good to lose sometime's cause it let's you know your weaknesses.
